September 2025 Athletic Highlights

Dance/Poms

BHHS Varsity and JV dancers attended Universal Dance Association camp, a transformative 4-day session to learn extensive dance choreography, master dance technique, participate in team building, and more. Athletes also attended ongoing summer dance training led by BHS coaches to focus on athleticism, technique, and overall performance quality.

The BHDT Middle School program began with Sara Taub as the head instructor. Taub has also joined the varsity coaching staff as an assistant. The team is utilizing the BHHS Wellness Center to enhance dance skills, build mental and physical strength, support competition readiness and injury prevention as they prepare for regional and national competitions.

Equestrian

With a total of 341 points, the BHHS Equestrian Team, earned 3rd place out of 6 teams at the Michigan Interscholastic Horsemanship Association Region competition. This secures their spot to advance forward to the 2025 MIHA State Competition!

The riders and horses worked extremely hard in the heat, dirt, and long days for this  accomplishment. They celebrated homecoming at the show and at the school, dividing their time effectively and maintaining their dedication to the efforts of the team as a whole. Congrats riders: Sadie Sloan (grade 10), Reagan Bewick (grade 11), Natalie Settecerri (grade 11), Amber Smith (grade 11), Blake Smith (grade 11), and team groom, Dillon Marvin (grade 12).

Football

The freshman football team is having a very productive season with a current record of 2-3, playing a very competitive schedule. The team is looking forward to hosting Troy Athens this coming Saturday at 9 a.m.

The JV football team is currently sitting at a record of 2-3 and are coming off a 43-12 win against Pontiac last week. It was a great team win for our players. Ryan Rubin (grade 10) rushed for 3 touchdowns while Chris Donnellon (grade 10) and Elie Carouba (grade 10) each rushed for a score. Gage Decker (grade 10) also added a touchdown on defense on a fumble recovery. We have a great group of athletes who are improving on the field every single week. We are excited to finish the season strong starting with our game against Troy Athens at home on Saturday, October 4 at 11 a.m.

The varsity football team had a big win against Pontiac at the Homecoming game. Their record currently stands at 2-3. The team began a new tradition of honoring teachers and staff who have made an impact on their high school career by asking a staff member to proudly wear or display their jersey at school on the first home gameday and come to the game to cheer on the team.

Girls Golf

The girls varsity golf team had their first annual senior challenge on Thursday, September 25. Seniors on the team played against underclassmen in a nine-hole round at The Links at Crystal Lake. The underclassmen won the inaugural event by three strokes.

Natalie Bugajewski (grade 10) scored a 37 against Lake Orion at Oxford Hills Golf Club and won medalist honors for the event.

Boys Soccer

Boys soccer is having the best season since the inception of the school when BHHS reached the state finals, only to lose on a penalty kick handball 1-0 to Ann Arbor Skyline. The team is undefeated in the league and with an overall record of 12-2. The team is the White Division champions and ranked second on MPR in our tough district. Coach MacAulay said, “[It’s a] pleasure to coach this group with 11 seniors and some fantastic young players to look out for in the future. Captains Simon Dixon (grade 12) and Alec Frantz (grade 12) are doing a magic job with great leadership and commitment. Leading by example as all great leaders do.”

Boys Tennis

Bloomfield’s Varsity B tennis team is enjoying a very good season with great weather resulting in only one rained out match. The team has a nice mix of players from all grades and has an excellent record of 8-2 in dual meet matches, and second place in an eight team tournament. The record of individual teams was a strong 98-36.

The only team to beat the Blackhawks this year was a very strong Troy team. Troy beat us at the start of the year, but the team worked very hard and the second meeting with Troy was a very close match with Troy just edging out BHHS in the tournament 21-18. The team is very deep, and by the end of the year, bottom-ranked teams began challenging those in the middle, while middle-ranked teams started competing with the top teams. Our team depth allows for spirited internal challenge matches which is something many teams are unable to have.

Coach Paul Seacrest gives a shout-out to the two three year team members, Kion Warner (grade 12), and William Zhang (grade 12) who have also held down number one doubles the majority of the year.

Volleyball

The Bloomfield Varsity Volleyball team continues to impress this season, climbing to #3 in the state rankings with a commanding 23-2 record. The team has recorded signature victories over top-ranked opponents, including Marian (#2) and Mercy (#4), solidifying its status as a serious contender heading into postseason play.

Leading the charge is Miss Volleyball candidate Kayla Nwabueze (grade 12), whose outstanding performance and leadership have set the tone for the team’s success. Nwabueze has been a dominant presence on the court, helping Bloomfield navigate a competitive schedule with consistency and composure. With playoffs approaching in November, Bloomfield is poised to make a deep run. The team’s depth, balanced attack, and strong defensive play make it one of the most dangerous squads in the state.
