FAR Camp Sing Out Needs Volunteers!

Founded in 1951, FAR Therapeutic Arts and Recreation is a non-profit organization that provides creative arts and recreational therapies to over 1,600 individuals with disabilities across Oakland, Wayne, and Macomb counties. FAR is seeking volunteers to help make our 2025 summer camps something to remember!
CSO:
Camp Sing Out is a musical theater inclusion camp for teens and young adults with disabilities. Unique to Camp Sing Out is its Theater Buddy program, which pairs campers one-on-one with typical volunteer peers. Theater buddies support their assigned camper throughout camp as they learn the ins and outs of musical theater, from theater terms to costuming. Other camp activities include singing, staging, choreography, and art. The final day of camp features a full theater performance, complete with sets, costumes, sound, and lights.
The ideal Camp Sing Out volunteer is kind, supportive, communicative, and empathetic. While experience with theater or individuals with disabilities is helpful, it is not required. Volunteers must be 13 years of age or older and commit to attending either (a) the full duration of camp, or (b) the last two weeks, July 21-August 1. Volunteer hours will be documented; letters of completion are available upon request.
Camp Sing Out is an incredibly rewarding experience. It is a great opportunity for those wishing to explore careers in the creative arts therapies, give back to their community, gain valuable practical skills, or complete their community service hours all in one go!
