October 2025 Athletic Highlights

Cross Country

The cross country team featured Claire Lawrence (grade 9) finishing in 6th place at the Regional Meet. Lawrence will compete in the State Finals Meet on Saturday, November 1, at Michigan International Speedway.

Dance/Poms

The junior varsity and varsity dance teams completed the football season, and are now preparing for their first competition at Walled Lake Northern High School on November 8. JV is competing in pom again this year, and for the first time varsity is competing in two styles, pom and jazz. The dance teams are also looking forward to the Junior Black Hawk Dance Clinic in December open to kindergarten through 8th grade students!

Equestrian

The BHHS equestrian team qualified for and competed at States for the first time in the team’s history! The team did an amazing job, even overcoming a few obstacles along the way. Congratulations to the following equestrians:

  • Reagan Bewick (grade 11) placed 5th in Hunt Seat Bareback, and in Flag Race
  • Natalie Settecerri (grade 11) placed 5th in the Hunt Seat Fitting and Showing
  • Sadie Sloan (grade 10) placed 5th in Saddle Seat High School Pattern
  • Amber Smith (grade 11) placed 5th in Saddle Seat Bareback

The team is looking forward to coming back even stronger next year!

Football

The Black Hawk freshman football team finished their season with a final record of two wins and seven losses. The players commitment to finishing the season was evident by a great second half in their last game against Stony Creek when they scored 20 points. The future remains bright for these young athletes as they move on to the JV and varsity levels in future years.

The JV football team went 2-2 in the month of October. They had great games against Troy Athens when they won 13-7, and the following week when they had a big win over Farmington Hills, 56-12. The season ended with tough losses to West Bloomfield (28-14) and Oak Park (34-32). Overall, the team finished their season 4-5. The players showed tremendous growth, both as players, and as young individuals within our community, showing resilience throughout the season.

Varsity football finished the season with a 2-7 record. The wins were an improvement from the previous two one-win seasons, and included two running clock victories at home. The team had their best showing in their week nine performance against Oak Park, losing a heartbreaker 28-34. The coaches would like to thank all of the seniors for their dedication to the program.

Girls Golf

Natalie Bugajewski (grade 10) represented Bloomfield Hills at the Girls' Golf State Finals held at The Meadows at Grand Valley State University after tying for first place among individual qualifiers at the regional tournament. Natalie scored an 87 on day one and an 89 on day two of the finals for a combined total of 176, which was enough to place her 40th out of the top 100 golfers in Michigan. Heavy rain and tough hole positions made the course challenging, but Bugajewski played great! The coaches wish to thank the golfer for being a great representative of Bloomfield Hills Girls' Golf!

Boys Tennis

Bloomfield’s Varsity B Tennis enjoyed a very good season this fall, with the added bonus of great weather, only one rained out match, and zero rained out practices. The team had nice mix of ages with seven grade 12, four grade 11, ten grade 10 and four grade 9 athletes. The team had an excellent record of 8-2 in dual meet matches, and took 2nd place in an eight team tournament. The record of individual teams was a strong 98-36. The only team to beat the Blackhawks this year was a very good Troy team. The coaches say goodbye to the seven seniors and wish them the best.

Congratulations to the BHHS Varsity A Tennis Team! The team battled hard to earn the MHSAA Division 1 State Championship Runner-Up title. Over the past 5 years, the team has finished as State Champions three times and runner-up twice. The following student athletes took home trophies: State Champions: Zev Spiegel (grade 11) at #3 Singles, Jonah Chernett (grade 12) and Krish Reddy (grade 11) at #1 Doubles, and Runner Up: Sajan Doshi (grade 12) and Meyer Saperstein (grade 12) at #2 Doubles.

Volleyball

Bloomfield Varsity Volleyball is currently ranked #4 in the State with a record of 36-6-1. The Blackhawks are undefeated in the League at 6-0 with our last league match on Wednesday, Oct 29 against Rochester. Congratulations to Kayla Nwabueze (grade 12) for over 2,000 career kills and 1,000 digs, Brynn Wilcox (grade 11) with over 2,000 career assists, and Allison Stakoe (grade 10) with over 500 career kills.
