Swim Relay Team Makes BHHS History

The outstanding 200 Freestyle Relay team of Charlie Antone (grade 12), Francis Baker (grade 10), Seif Elbaradey (grade 11), and Miles Marx (grade 11) made BHHS school history this year as the first relay team to win the State Championship!

In addition, Marx anchored the 200 Freestyle Relay with a 19.96 split time. This split was the fastest in the event and made Marx the ninth-fastest 200 free relay performer in MHSAA history. Marx also took second place in the 100 Butterfly and fourth place in the 50 Freestyle. Marx is expected to be heavily recruited by colleges next year.

Head coach Ray Onisko noted that since the team had been together all season and were named All League at the OAA Red Division Championship Meet, their confidence level was very high going into the state meet. “Our plan was simple, go after it. Don’t take any chances on the starts and give it their all in the water. At the prelims, they swam the fastest time and went into finals seeded first. They worked as a team, relied on and trusted each other to be fast and finish strong, allowing for a good start for each leg. They felt good the week leading into the meet and really trusted each other to do the ‘right things,’” said Coach Onisko. Congratulations to our State Champion relay swimmers!
